New ULTA Ad: 8-28 August

10 August, 2010

So I haven’t gotten an ULTA ad in ages, and the only thing I had received recently was my latest coupon (which I used well-I have reviews coming soon on the Cargo mini set). But I figured this was because they have the latest rewards coupons. Again, I am level four, but I’m probably just going to use it on a nail polish. The nice thing is that the rewards certificate is valid through the middle of September, so if you are wanting to use it on nail polish you are actually best holding off on it until the next ad comes, because there might just be a deal (ie B2G1 free) on OPI or Essie. There is an OPI mini set with a $10 OPI purchase-it has minis of Brisbane Bronze, Bogota Blackberry, and Black Cherry Chutney-but I hate the OPI minis. Brisbane Bronze and Black Cherry Chutney, especially, are staple polishes for me that I can’t imagine being without. (Russian Navy is in there; it’s my lucky colour. I wore it when I got my current job, and when I wore it today I had my best performance probably EVER. Definitely a lucky colour if there ever was one)

It’s another bag with fragrance purchase thing-this time, it’s a weekender in white, pink, or teal with a black jacquard print. I like it, but honestly a) I never am away from home, and b) I have enough suitcases already. There are lots of newbies though-JPG Classique X, Benefit’s new three (So Hooked on Camella; which is a floral with vanilla, Lookin to Rock Rita; a green fruity, and Garden of Good and Eva; a citrus floral). The ad had a sample of Camella, which I actually really like. It’s VERY similar to VS Dream Angels Halo, which is a recent love of mine. This is my summer frag for 2010, and the Benefit fragrances aren’t too out of reach (granted, it’s just a one ounce EDT but $36 is reasonable IMO) so I may have to get it once I run down on something. There’s also the Daisy Pop Art edition, which is basically a red bottle with black flowers. Calvin Klein has new Eternity Aqua for men, Philosophy has Eternal Grace (which I may need to give a try), Blumarine has new Blugirl, and more.

There are also more bag with purchase deals-a $75 Ed Hardy fragrance purchase will get you either a tote (ladies) or backpack (men’s), a $70 women’s purchase will get you a clutch with minis or a $65 of men’s will get you a “flight bag” with minis of CK Eternity, and a $58 DKNY Be Delicious purchase will get you a tote. Lots of value sets also, nothing really that new or interesting except the Princess one, where for $65 you get the 1.7 ounce EDT, a body lotion, and a lipgloss keychain with a mini bag.

It’s the time of year for the ULTA brand GWP-with a 17.50 purchase of the cosmetics, beauty tools, or minerals, you get a gift in your choice of purple or green. Each has two shadow quads, two polishes, a dual-ended lipgloss, a dual-ended eye pencil, a blush, a bronzer, a lipstick, a mirror, four brushes (sponge-tip eye, eye shader, powder, angled blush…all long-bristled), and the bag. There are also new ULTA brand items-mousse blushes, compact foundations, Legendary Lengths mascara, gel liners, and cream shadows. My mum uses some of the stuff from hers from last year, although I avoid the ULTA brand stuff since my skin got kinda irritated. What can I say, it’s picky skin. Read the rest of this entry »

Well this is the big Mum’s Day ad, with all sorts of fun exclusives! Also, if you’re a club member, it has your rewards certificate. I was only level 3 this time, but I’m gonna use it to get myself a nail polish. Hello, new Essie’s! My no-buy continues for two more weeks, though, but no worries!

Starting out, it’s the free tote with fragrance purchase-get a free faux-croc tote in one of 5 colours: pink, lime, sky blue, goldenrod, or white. I have to admit, I kinda like this-but these do tend to get marked down a few months later, so I can definitely wait. Heck, one of the local ones STILL has those hurricane jars from the winter. Anyways, the new ones featured are Beyonce’s Heat, Versace’s Versus, Bebe’s new self-titled EDP, Givenchy’s Ange ou Demon Le Secret, Bvlgari’s Blv II, and Escada’s Marine Groove. Marc Jacobs Lola isn’t technically new-it’s been out for almost a year. Sarah Jessica Parker also has her new SJP NYC, with fairly affordable prices (2 ounce is $49). Ralph Lauren has a summer edition of the Romance fragrance, at $78 for a 3.4 ounce jug-and with a $75 Romance purchase, you get a free tote and rollerball/lipgloss trio.

Of course, there are a lot of sets, and I will list them here:

Calvin Klein Euphoria: 3.4 ounce and .5 ounce EDP, 3.4 ounce lotion, $80
Christian Dior J’Adore: 1.7 ounce EDP, 1.7 ounce lotion, and a little purse, $79
Clinique Happy: 1.7 ounce perfume and 2.5 ounce body lotion and body wash with a matching bag, $49.50

Moving into the makeup, Eco Tools, ULTA brand, ULTA Professional, and Japonesque all have their brushes B1G1 50% off. Also all ULTA brand makeup-the cosmetics, tools, and minerals-are B1G1 free. Obviously not including the professional brushes or clearance, ditto on colour kits. L’Oreal mascaras and eyeshadows are 2/$10, L’Oreal lip colours and lipliners are 2/$12, and foundations and primers by them are 2/$16. Read the rest of this entry »

New ULTA Ad: 21 Feb-13 March

23 February, 2010

Sorry this is so late, my energy has been pretty much nonexistent lately. Alas, here are the new deals!

For those of you who are ULTA club members, this is when you get your rewards certificate. I could have SWORN I was at least at level 6 but nope, only level 5 for me:( On the cover, we have B2G2free on Matrix haircare. Going inside, there is more haircare stuff. Redken has a free mini hairspray with full-sized hairspray purchase, limit four. Oscar Blandi has an Every Other Day set for $48, with volumizing shampoo, conditioner (8.4 ounces for those), and then dry shampoo spray (3.2 ounces). The set is designed so that you can notice the benefits of only washing your hair every other day, and I think that’s awesome. Sexy Hair, Nioxin, and Tigi are all B2G2free, like Matrix.

Onto budget makeup, Revlon, Almay, and Maybelline are all B2G1 free, and L’Oreal Studio Secrets and LA Splash are B1G1 50% off. In ULTA cosmetics, there are 17 new nail polishes, 2 new mascaras, 12 new Kiss/Tell lipglosses, and 12 new Extreme Wear lipcolours. There’s also a GWP-when you spend $17.50 in ULTA cosmetics, minerals, implements, and tools (excludes Professional, Colour Kits, and mineral kits), you can get one of three colour collections: Tiger Lily (warm), Luscious Peonies (cool), and Exotic Orchid (trend). Now let me tell you-I would be tempted to go for the trend set, just for the mirror and nail polish and so forth. You get a makeup bag, 4 brushes (all which look pretty craptastic), an eyeliner, a lipstick, a bronzer, a blusher, a double-ended lipgloss, two shadow quads, two nail polishes, and a mirror. The Trend has a quad that looks sorta similar to my CARGO Tahiti quad, and the nail polishes? Yellow and royal blue. Read the rest of this entry »

I know this one is a week late, but I lost the ad and just finally found it today kicking around at the bottom of my purse!

If you like Neutrogena, then you’ll want to hit ULTA, as it’s all B2G1 free. Ditto on all “salon styling/finishing products”, which equates to brands like Bed Head, Sexy Hair, Paul Mitchell, and so forth. Good times. Dermalogica is also B2G1 free, except for kits-which makes it a darn good way to get stocked up on what you need. I actually work at a shopping center with a store where I get 20% off Dermalogica, and the main thing I need is the facial sunscreen so that I don’t totally age my face this next summer when I inevitably am at the beach all the time with my friends.

On the note of skincare, there’s plenty of new stuff. Murad has an anti-aging acne regimen, which looks really interesting. I am a HUGE Murad fan, and the line is broken into three easy steps: cleanse/tone, treat/repair, hydrate/protect. I still am waiting a bit to review my Murad cleanser and moisturizer, but so far, the results are showing and my face is loving it. Anywhoo, Strivectin has a new Got Wrinkles? set for $99 which has the SD treatment, the hand cream, and the new eye cream. Kinerase also has new stuff, in this case two new firming products (face cream and eye cream) that go “beyond collagen”. Hmm… Exuviance CoverBlend is 10% off, which looks to be good for the one spot on my face I need to cover but I don’t need as much else. Mario Badescu has a sample of the Herbal Hydrating Serum with any purchase, DDF has a sample of the Advanced Micro-Exfoliation cleanser with purchase, and Peter Thomas Roth has a sample of the Mega-Rich eye cream with purchase. Sephora Under $10 Sale

26 December, 2009

Today, after I got off work (since I work 3 doors down from Sephora), I saw they’re doing a 10 Under $10 sale-a bunch of items for insane prices, and well, it’s a great selection!

The items include:
Too Faced Galaxy Glam eyeshadows and Starry Eyed liners-select shades
Anastasia mini brow kit
A NARS concealer duo
Something from Korres, it may have been either lipgloss or mascara.
A duo of what could be some mini Stila lipglazes or stains
Benefit To Go-minis of That Gal, Benetint, and two other products
A little Tarte palette

That was all I could remember, however I will go back in tomorrow and see what I can pull up.

New ULTA Ad (4-24 October)

1 October, 2009

Alrighty folks, it’s October, and you know what that means-pink EVERYTHING, in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At all stores, there are two special things that you get with a donation. For a $1 donation, you get entered into winning a $500 value Beauty Bag, and there is one winner per store. For every ten dollar donation, you get your choice of a baseball hat, or a pink scarf. If you don’t want the hat or scarf, all $10 goes to the BCRF (Breast Cancer Reseach Foundation), whereas if you get one $7.50 still goes. On the beauty bag, 100% of donations go to the BCRF. What you can also do is share, in letter form, your experiences if you or someone you know has been affected by breast cancer, and they will post it in the store windows. Many brands are doing BCA Month or pink stuff, and there are plenty of deals. Kenra has a pink-wrapped bottle of their hairspray for $15, all cosmetic bags and Caboodles are 25% off (including pink cases), Japonesque brushes are B1G1 50% off, Earth Theraputics are 25% off, and both Ulta Bath/Smoothies (including an LE Pink Champagne scent) and OPI polishes are B2G1 free.

CHI has a pink 1″ ceramic flat iron for $120, and you get a free Silk Infusion (2 ounce) and 44 Iron Guard (8.5 ounce) with purchase of that iron. All Pink Titanium Hot Tools styling appliances are 20% off, with the coordinating brushes 25% off, and Wigo’s pink 1″ flat iron and dryer are $30 each. There is the BaByliss flat iron, which looks to have crystals on the handle, for $100 (in a case), and Conair has the YouStyle curl/straight iron for $30. All FHI appliances are $20 off, and a new Zoe flat iron (pink with white stars) is $30. Yankee Candle has a BCA jar candle, in mandarin cranberry scent, for $15, and Fragrance of the Month jars (Cranberry Chutney, Buttercream, Spiced Pumpkin) B1G1 50% off. All Brookstone stuff is 15% off. Read the rest of this entry »

Too Faced Holiday 2009

23 September, 2009

Alrighty folks, we have our next holiday collection, courtesy of the fine folks over at Too Faced! The collection is the “Queen for a Day” and it features a lot of different palettes and sets, all with great values. I haven’t used a ton of TF, but it’s a great brand for the young, young-at-heart, and especially those who love neutrals.

And this first set? Neutral lovers rejoice. It’s the Queen For A Day set, and it retails for $45. Packaged inside a custom makeup bag with a queen motif, you get a great all-over face kit. Exclusive to this kit is an eye quad with neutral-toned shades, along with Free Love lipstick, a mini Lash Injection Pinpoint mascara, a tube of Too Faced Shadow Insurance (not sure if it’s full-size), a Snow Bunny bronzer (a striped bronzer with white, two bronzey shades, and a rosey bronze), and of course, the flatbuki brush. This is a great kit for a girl who is starting in makeup, and I think that may have been the intention. In high school, most of the girls I knew were more basic as far as makeup went, so a lot of the girls would love something like this. Not to mention, it’s nicer than some of the stuff they probably are toting around.

The next palette is the third installment in the Glamour to Go set. This is sized with the pocket or purse in mind, as it features 8 shadows, four lip colours, and a blusher, all in a handy case. The blush is a nice everyday one, and the lipglosses aren’t all the same-and the shadow colours are a nice mix of colours, including some brights (yay!). The price is amazing on this-it’s $19.50. Granted, it is a small palette, but it’s great as a fun gift for your on-the-go friend. Read the rest of this entry »
