Another VS Sale Haul

17 January, 2011

…and just above $40, with tax, for all of it!

Yes, with the sale winding down, more and more stuff goes on sale, and I definitely was able to reap the rewards of it. Here’s what I got:

Wish Pink and Hope Pink EDTs
Very Sexy Now EDT (the leopard one)
Girls Night Out gift set
Secret Charm gift set
Secret Charm shimmer lotion

The EDTs have the cutest packaging ever-as a packaging junkie, I have to say I love them to death! They’re definitely display-worthy, as I have my entire windowsill lined with perfumes. The VS Now is a really good one that I love for the frangipani and the orchid, but it’s quite fruity as well. Very tropical-I’m a huge fan. I used quite a bit yesterday at work, in fact.

The two gift sets are nice, as I am planning on traveling and I gave away a lot of my BBW stuff (and plan to give away/use even more). I had already used a full travel thing of the Girls Night Out (a peony/waterlily blend), so this is a good way to keep it on hand. And Secret Charm is a very light blend of honeysuckle and apple. The shimmer lotion, however, disappointed me greatly, as instead of a nice, even shimmer I got a gritty shimmer that I could feel. It felt more like a sugar scrub, to be honest.

Who knows, I may do one more haul to try and get a bottle of Heavenly Stardust. Maybe a second bottle of Dream Angels Wish, and some lotion too (I’m in love with that fragrance, I got the 4 ounce bottle and have put a dent in it already). There is one interesting piece of news, though: Halo is back permanently, or so it seems. It was on the shelves right next to Heavenly and Divine, so yeah. Good times.

VS Half-Yearly Sale!

1 January, 2011

So the sale doesn’t start til either tomorrow or Monday-not exactly sure which. The timing was a bit difficult with this one, but that’s life! However, when I went today to the one in downtown (I needed to kill some time), they had all the beauty sale up and ready, as well as a little bit of the lingerie sale.

So what went on sale? There’s a ton of Beauty Rush makeup, including some glitter eye gels and the denim lipglosses, for 75% off. All Dream Angels Wish, aka my favourite Dream Angels, is 75% off as well (I bought the four ounce bottle). Very Sexy Now, Very Sexy Dare, and SLT Ooh La La are all 75% off as well, as is whatever was left of that Naturals line. I almost got a second bottle of my beloved Cashmere, but I think I’ll be fine.

I know in the 50% off area, there’s the Heavenly Stardust or whatever it was, the Christmas version for this year. I didn’t see what else, but I think some of the Pink frags might be in there as well. A lot of the gift sets were 40% off, and then the discontinued Garden/Beauty Rush bodycare is 3/$12 or 6/$20. I need to avoid as I have boxes and boxes of stuff-literally. I may stock up at the 75% off sale, but for now I think I am fine. I do have to say, though, the Pretty in Pink that I stocked up on last time is one I am loving to death-I keep a bottle of the splash on my desk for whenever I need to fragrance myself and it’s such a nice, light, girly fragrance.

As for what I bought? I bought the giant bottle of Wish (almost bought a second, but that’ll last me ages considering how much perfume I have), as well as a bottle of Very Sexy Dare. Blood orange and freesia? Yes please.

New ULTA Ad: 8-28 August

10 August, 2010

So I haven’t gotten an ULTA ad in ages, and the only thing I had received recently was my latest coupon (which I used well-I have reviews coming soon on the Cargo mini set). But I figured this was because they have the latest rewards coupons. Again, I am level four, but I’m probably just going to use it on a nail polish. The nice thing is that the rewards certificate is valid through the middle of September, so if you are wanting to use it on nail polish you are actually best holding off on it until the next ad comes, because there might just be a deal (ie B2G1 free) on OPI or Essie. There is an OPI mini set with a $10 OPI purchase-it has minis of Brisbane Bronze, Bogota Blackberry, and Black Cherry Chutney-but I hate the OPI minis. Brisbane Bronze and Black Cherry Chutney, especially, are staple polishes for me that I can’t imagine being without. (Russian Navy is in there; it’s my lucky colour. I wore it when I got my current job, and when I wore it today I had my best performance probably EVER. Definitely a lucky colour if there ever was one)

It’s another bag with fragrance purchase thing-this time, it’s a weekender in white, pink, or teal with a black jacquard print. I like it, but honestly a) I never am away from home, and b) I have enough suitcases already. There are lots of newbies though-JPG Classique X, Benefit’s new three (So Hooked on Camella; which is a floral with vanilla, Lookin to Rock Rita; a green fruity, and Garden of Good and Eva; a citrus floral). The ad had a sample of Camella, which I actually really like. It’s VERY similar to VS Dream Angels Halo, which is a recent love of mine. This is my summer frag for 2010, and the Benefit fragrances aren’t too out of reach (granted, it’s just a one ounce EDT but $36 is reasonable IMO) so I may have to get it once I run down on something. There’s also the Daisy Pop Art edition, which is basically a red bottle with black flowers. Calvin Klein has new Eternity Aqua for men, Philosophy has Eternal Grace (which I may need to give a try), Blumarine has new Blugirl, and more.

There are also more bag with purchase deals-a $75 Ed Hardy fragrance purchase will get you either a tote (ladies) or backpack (men’s), a $70 women’s purchase will get you a clutch with minis or a $65 of men’s will get you a “flight bag” with minis of CK Eternity, and a $58 DKNY Be Delicious purchase will get you a tote. Lots of value sets also, nothing really that new or interesting except the Princess one, where for $65 you get the 1.7 ounce EDT, a body lotion, and a lipgloss keychain with a mini bag.

It’s the time of year for the ULTA brand GWP-with a 17.50 purchase of the cosmetics, beauty tools, or minerals, you get a gift in your choice of purple or green. Each has two shadow quads, two polishes, a dual-ended lipgloss, a dual-ended eye pencil, a blush, a bronzer, a lipstick, a mirror, four brushes (sponge-tip eye, eye shader, powder, angled blush…all long-bristled), and the bag. There are also new ULTA brand items-mousse blushes, compact foundations, Legendary Lengths mascara, gel liners, and cream shadows. My mum uses some of the stuff from hers from last year, although I avoid the ULTA brand stuff since my skin got kinda irritated. What can I say, it’s picky skin. Read the rest of this entry »

Alrighty, this is one of my favourite times of the year because this means beauty exclusives GALORE. It seems like all the big brands bring out the big guns, and this year is no exception. I’m going to do this by brand, so if you have a particular brand you’re looking for scroll down and you may (or may not) find it.

My first week of using the cream has come to a close! So far, I think I’ve been fairly diligent as far as things go so far. I am making sure to get my twice daily rubs of the cream in, although I’ve skipped a couple days on the scrub. You run through the cream FAST-I may be getting myself the economy-sized jars before much longer.

Anywhoo, I’m not noticing a ton of change when I look in the mirror so far. I do feel a smidge more firmness in my thighs though (anywhere is a start, let’s be honest kids), and when I look in windows as I am walking I do see a little less flab, a little more firmness and definition.

The one thing that is going to make it hard for me: I broke a toe on my foot-broken below the webbing of the toe-and when you couple that with having an hours cut, it is hard. I’m forced to wear a big ol’ boot (walking cast) on the affected foot and it is hard, but I might be losing some weight by having to lug that ol’ jalopy around while I am at work. I’ve been on somewhat of a light duty schedule so far, but I need to get back working at full-steam to hopefully see results faster.

I’m considering plunking down the $$$ on the Slimulator, which is one of those discs with massage nubs on one side and a handle on the other. It’s designed to help massage the cream in effectively, as well as stimulate the blood vessels and increase circulation in the problem areas that we are all afflicted with. However, paychecks won’t be good for awhile…:(

Today, I was going to buy the FatGirlSleep by Bliss at Sephora-however, there was what looked to be a better deal: the original FatGirlSlim plus the FatGirlScrub, in a pack together for $45-a $74 value. Can’t pass that up-and what better way to get to know the products? So I bought it, and for the next four weeks I am putting them to the test: using them twice daily on my legs, stomach, bum, and arms to see how they actually work.

The scrub is formulated with Himalayan pink salt-60%, to be exact-and it’s very pepperminty. Nice and invigorating, although it is a mighty small jar. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. It says to rub it on wet skin, and they even have a diagram for how to rub it in (upwards and in circles). So far, it just feels like any ol’ salt scrub, although I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe I just have the wrong technique.

The cream, on the other hand, is lightweight and absorbs in nicely, so no greasy residue. I definitely don’t expect results fast, but with my first usage of the combo-scrub then cream-I notice a little more of the lumpies and imperfections-which I will chalk up to the products and the massaging bringing to the surface.

The goal is to have my legs looking way better, as swimsuit season is here! Anything will help, and I am potentially going to replace one usage of FatGirlSlim with FatGirlSleep once I get paid next. I will keep posted on the progress, so stay tuned.
