Black Friday Hauling

25 November, 2011

This year, I kept my hauling at a minimum. I’m running on smaller-than-normal checks, and also I don’t need to be buying a ton of things on the sales. But I still was able to make my money work for me in a very good fashion-and get a few things I actually needed!

First up was the Fred Meyer sock sale-and I limited myself to a single pair of slipper socks (which are so cozy on my feet right now), a two-pack of knee-high fuzzy socks, and then a pair of metallic tights. Total damage? Around $16 with tax. I could have bought way more, but I don’t need to. I almost got the faux fur legwarmers, but it’s a little too Jersey Shore for me. On the socks, though-many of my old sleep socks were getting seriously worn out after years and years of useage. It’s time to start replacing them-so it’s time to get new ones. It’s a gradual thing, but I’ll have plenty of time.

Then at my store, I was able to get something else I truly needed: pajama pants. Most all my pajama pants are way too big for me now, due to the sheer amount of weight that I have lost. What was once a medium is now a small-I never thought I would be a small in anything, let alone bottoms! We had a good sale on the pajamas, anyways, so I got the only two flannel pairs in a small. I also got two of a little kimono-inspired cardigan and three different little dresses-an A-line t-shirt dress, a black velvet-top dress with pleated bottom, and then an orange half-sleeve dress that is straight out of the 1970’s. I was so happy that we got our discount on top of the deals, which we didn’t get last year. I only spent around $36 after tax, which was way less than what I got out of there last year for.

I wanted to get the Benefit duo at ULTA, but they were gone:( I did, however, pick up a couple of the China Glaze polishes that were on clearance-Cha Cha Cha and Blue Iguana. I presume they were from the summer collection, but I got out of polish for quite awhile (fatigue and malaise, so to speak). I am loving Cha Cha Cha though; it’s very much like MAC’s Lucky Green eyeshadow, but in polish form. They had a few others that I may pick up next payday too, because I have to send some polish to California as well as hit the dusty for other polish gifts.

I very nearly plunked down the $28 for CARGO Laguna blush, but my headpiece was hurting my head a lot (basically a St. Lucia-inspired wreath, with greenery, LED tealights, and fake birds), so I had to mosey on home.

Oh, and at Macy’s I had my mum pick me up one of those old-style popcorn makers. I’ve always wanted one, and I can bring it to the church for youth events. Maybe even sell popcorn on Wednesday nights for a fundraiser, perhaps?

Sephora Black Friday Deals

25 November, 2011

Okay so first off-no sighting of an ULTA ad yet, and no word on WHAT is in the VS GWP tote. I’m skipping as it’s a $65 buy-in, and I could use the money instead on Blacklist items at work, or Christmas presents.

Anywhoo, Sephora has the 10 for $10 today, and it’s a doozy. The deals are the following:

Kat Von D Adora perfume
Stila Glitz & Glam palette, with Raisin lip glaze
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara and mini MultiplEYE primer
Korres Guava lip butter (full-size) and mini body butter
Sephora Collection mini brush set
Bare Minerals trio-Glee all-over colour, a tapered blush brush, and full-size Rouge gloss
Art of Shaving 4 Elements gift set (pre-shave oil, shave cream, after-shave balm, and shaving brush) in the Lavender variety
Josie Maran Petal Pink Argan Colour Stick
Buxom Lash mascara/Chocolate Citrine eyeliner
Tokidoki Cromatico eyeshadow palettes

I’m definitely interested in the perfume; I’ll have to mosey three doors down on my lunch to see if it’s worth me buying! I’m also maybe getting one of the shadow palettes. I need more shadow like I need a hole in the head-but Adieu looks up my alley.

ULTA Black Friday Ad 2010

29 November, 2010

So I just stumbled upon this online-I should have sooner, considering I was housebound for a day, but with all the crazy Fashion Finds at work I haven’t thought of this! Until now. On Black Friday, all stores open at 6 AM-works perfectly for me, as I can hit Best Buy (and if we go to the southern of the two shopping areas, Target as well-I need hangers) before this, and potentially call and see if I can work at 7.

Enough with that, though-here are the specials! All of these are valid through Saturday, but it is while supplies last.

Bare Minerals Brush/Face duo-$12 (either a Mineral Veil with Feather Light brush, or all-over colour with Angled Face Brush) (limit 2)
Sebastian Shaper or Shaper Plus hairspray-$7 (limit 4)
ULTA Brand Mini Blockbuster-$10 (9 shadows, 9 lip products, 4 blushes, along with applicators) (limit 6)
ULTA Brand Mini Nail Set-$3 (limit 4)
Jasmine LaBelle shadow palettes-$5 (limit 6)
Earth Theraputics Spa Pedicure set-$10
Professional haircare Holiday sets-33% off (limit 4 per brand)

Revlon 1″ ceramic curling iron, flat iron, or hair dryer-$10 (limit 4)
Smashbox Alluring Beauty duo-$15 (features Face/Body highlighter and Smitten gloss) (limit 2)
Smashbox Eye Lust-Haves-$15 (features a shadow quad and shadow brush)
ULTA Bath gift sets-40% off
ULTA Brand Colour My World or Pretty and Polished blockbusters-$17 (limit 6)
Stila Kitten duo-$10 (features full sizes of Kitten eyeshadow and Kitten gloss)
ULTA Professional nail duos-$4
5/$5 mix and match stocking stuffers

Tarte 6-piece intro set-$25
Free tote with 2-piece Philosophy purchase
Free bag with samples with $50 Dermalogica purchase
Urban Decay Jet Set duos-$15 (travel size 24/7 liners in Stash/Bourbon or Oil Slick/Rockstar)
Benefit BadGal duo-$29 (BadGal original and Plum)

Oh yeah, and free candleholders with $30 fragrance purchase!

Not really enthused about a lot, to be honest-I have a coupon, which will get used on another Orly Cosmic FX polish (since I love Space Cadet, aka Gasoline, a lot). I may get the Kitten set, but it’s also one of those things where sure, it’s an insane value, but do I see myself using it a whole lot? Not exactly. They’re great for gifts, though.

Black Friday 2010

19 November, 2010

It’s a week away-and I’m so excited! I mean, call me a crazy silly American, but I love getting up early to get bargains before going to work to sell other people bargains. It’s tradition!

Not all the ads are out-many of them don’t leak til Thanksgiving, but I honestly like it when they leak faster: it allows my mum and I to set up a game plan of where to go when, and I can compare prices and figure out what I want. Let’s face it: there isn’t much I NEED at this time that goes on sale, as I haven’t moved out of my parents’ place yet and I’m doing just fine without a television. Sure, a TV is nice, but it’s not a necessity. I do, however, always look for DVDs. When you can get a movie for the price of my normal morning coffee at Starbucks, it’s definitely worth it to stock up. Plus, I fill my movie library for a small investment. If I need something to do, I just pop one in. I don’t buy a ton of movies, but I buy ones I know I can get some enjoyment out of (a few popcorn flicks) and then some more serious movies, just to keep my mind going.

Also I may or may not be looking for a new digital camera. I might just see about getting someplace to fix it for me, but if they can’t I can just get a new one. Which would sadden me, because my camera is the same shade of blue as the Chelsea FC uniforms. Coincidental, because Samsung sponsors them.

I also stock up on clothes, being that I am a total clotheshorse-because the deals simply can’t be beat. Taking one peek in my overstuffed closet is further evidence of that, as I have so many dresses that I need a separate dress bag. When we moved into our house, we never really thought that a) I would still be living at home at 22, and b) I would end up working at a clothing retailer. Speaking of which, we have insane deals coming, which I cannot divulge. They are definitely worth getting there early for, although my mall is awesome: holiday hours are 9-9, no earlier or later. None of this “open til 11” crap. Also, though, besides me I have tons of people to buy for. My dad already has enough clothes, and he has one preferred retailer (Jos. A Banks) so a gift card would definitely suffice. I already have the bulk of stuff done for my mum, although I may get a few things here or there for her because our store’s winter sale starts BEFORE Christmas. Yes, before.  And for my brother? I’m definitely waiting for the sale, however when you have $10 everyday value jeans (that being one of the things he needs) it’s also good stock-up time.

We typically will do it this way when it comes to our shopping: leave at 5 AM, go up to the Best Buy. Right around there we have that, Old Navy, ULTA, Barnes/Noble, Nordstrom Rack (which doesn’t have special deals, but I need brassieres badly and maybe sunglasses-maybe), plus we’re a short drive to JcPenney and a fairly large mall. We then hit the store a mile from our house for their sock sale (50% off all socks until 11 AM), and then we hit my store. We may or may not hit Target also. Work til 11, off at 8-and I could very feasibly hit the other mall close to me on my way home, since they start extended hours that day also and I might need to get a few things.

My goal of being done with Christmas shopping before Black Friday isn’t going to happen-but a gift card is the perfect gift, my brother isn’t picky, and a lot of what I have to buy is small stuff.

ULTA 2009 Black Friday Ad?

26 November, 2009

I know some of you are coming here, looking to see if ULTA has a Black Friday ad. Unfortunately…I did not see one in my newspaper, nor my mail. If I get my hands on an ad, I will definitely let you all know. It could be something that comes out in tomorrow’s papers, or it could be a non-advertised sort of thing. All I know, I haven’t seen one. Sorry folks.

I have just received an email with a preview of some of the blockbuster deals. They include:

Bare Minerals Bright Idea set #1-This is an eye set, with Well-Rested eye colour and a dome brush. This will be all of $10, making it an insane gift item.
Bare Minerals Bright Idea set #2-This is a face set, with Glee all-over colour and an angled brush. This will be $10, as was the eye set.
Smashbox Beauty Basics Set-This has a mini of Fame lipgloss, eyeshadow singles of ASAP and Pronto, and a .3 ounce size of Photo Finish primer. It says $12.99 on the website, but who knows what it will go down to?
Smashbox Double Duty Beauty kit-This has a Doubletake lip colour in Apricot, a Speedracer Double Exposure lip/cheek colour, and then a medium size of Crystal lipgloss. Same price as the other Smashbox set.
Smashbox Quick Eyes kit-This has a #30 brush as well as Pronto and ASAP single shadows, also for $12.99.
All ULTA Smoothies (the 3/1’s)-$6.99
ULTA 69-piece beauty blockbuster-$16.99
There are two Essie twin-packs. One of them is a colour one, with Bordeaux and A-List polishes, and the other is a classic (ie French manicure) set with Waltz and Ballet Slippers. They are $6 apiece, so perfect for gifts, stocking stuffers, or just to try some new shades at way, way less than retail.
Revlon Fuschia Ionic Dryer or 1″ straightener-$10
Holiday colour sets from $4.99

Update: I went this morning with my mum, and I came home with just two items: the Bare Minerals face set, and Essie Bright Tights. The sets are an insane value, even as gifts. For me, I needed a face brush and the angled one feels nice. There really aren’t a whole lot of special sales, and the clearance area was abysmal. I avoided getting OPI She’s Golden, but I am so glad I shelled out extra to get Bright Tights.

Also, as far as OPI goes, they had restocked all the holiday shades, except the ULTA exclusives which were fairly sparse (only one of Dreaming of Red). Essie had restocked Mint Candy Apple but I got the second-to-last Bright Tights. Pink Parka and Midnight Cami are definitely on my list, though.

ULTA Black Friday Ad

27 November, 2008

UPDATE: The 2009 ad can be found here.

So I see that people have been wanting this ad-and while I did not get it in the mail, I did get an email about it waiting for me! So here goes.

Every year, Smashbox does a mini value set. This one is $20, and it has two cosmetic bags, an eye trio, a lip gloss, and then a lip pencil. I have the set from last year and while I don’t use it often, it was great. This is definitely the one that brings people into the store, especially since many don’t normally use Smashbox and use this as a way to give it a try.

There looks to be another Smashbox set too-a $12.99 set-but I can’t access all of the details on it.

A set that I did see in store today was a little Bourjois set. It’s $25, and has four of the little eyeshadows (I believe loose powder form), a mini mascara (that can be clipped onto your phone), and then a mini eyeshadow brush. The nice thing is that the brush looks to be decent quality, so it could be great for travel. I personally have not tried Bourjois but this, I will definitely be short-listing for Christmas.
