MAC Spring/Summer 2010 Trends
3 March, 2010
This is always one of my favourite things from MAC-they put up, every season, a thing of what the hot new trends are makeup-wise, and then it has “Get the Look”, or GTL’s as we retail folk call them. The exciting thing? PRO products on the main site. Oh yes:) New this season, you can see the products and their use at various shows.
The first look, Dye-A-Tribe, is all about two things: playing with texture, and “syrupy” shades. I have noticed at our store, a lot of the clothes we have received have been in sort of sweet colours, and these have that but also with a rebellious edge.
Eyeshadows in Fig. 1 and Orange
Lipstick in Violetta (the perennial re-appearer)
Blush in Gingerly
Technakohl in Smoothblue
Mineralize Skinfinish Natural
Lipmix in Fuschia (PRO)
Impeccable Brow Pencil-Taupe
Blush Pan-Taupe (PRO?)
The second look, American Nomad, is a sort of “effortless” sort of beauty-very much a hippie beach girl.
Select Moisturecover-all shades
Cream Colour Base-Hush (might be PRO, dunno though)
Sculpting Powder pan-Sculpt (PRO)
Cream Colour Base-Antiqued Gold (PRO)
Mineralize Blush-Warm Soul
Lip Conditioner (tube)
Zoom Lash-Lofty Brown
Lipglass-Ember Glow, RevealingThe third look, Underground Society, is all about looks that are unconventional and daring, but still luxe in a way. Think, in my book, silver lipstick.
Set Powder-Porcelain (PRO)
Blush Ombre-Azalea Blossom
Lip Erase-Dim (PRO)
Finally, we have the Pale ‘n Dandy look, which deals with androgyny in a way-the person who cares enough, but doesn’t want to LOOK like they care.
Face & Body foundation
Studio Moisture Tints
Cream Colour Base-Luna, Virgin Isle (PRO)
Prep & Prime Transparent finishing powder
Cushnie et Ochs:
Pro Longlash-Barelash (PRO)
Cream Colour Base-Nude
Prep & Prime Lip
All in all, this is a representation of some of what’s been seen. I typically get a better idea by looking at the actual makeup collections themselves, and then choosing what I like and don’t. One of my favourites for this season? Metal Maven lipstick. Sure, I may not use it a ton after this season, but it’s unique.
