Sephora Sun Safety Kit
9 May, 2009
So I just got an email blast from Sephora advertising their new suncare stash. Sephora does some insane deals, selling sample sizes of products in a big grouping, and it’s honestly great. They have several different fragrance ones, where you pay $50 or more for a set of perfume vials, and then you have a coupon to get a free bottle of the one you liked the best. They have the Lash Stash, which is 10 mini mascaras from various brands, and not only is it economical as nobody I know ever uses up mascara before it goes bad, but you get to try some at very little total cost.
This one is all sorts of summer fun. It has 13 different different facial sunscreens, for both men AND women, packaged into an eco-friendly expandable backpack. It is only $22.50, and because facial sunscreens can be a tricky thing, you can try a bunch before you spend a ton of money on one botle.
The products are:
.1 ounce size of Clarins SPF 40 Day Screen. This is absolutely amazing, I have oily skin and it’s a mineral-based product. Sure, it is pricey, but it dries beautifully on the skin, and a little goes a long way. I absolutely cannot recommend this enough.
.4 ounce size of Philosophy Hope In A Jar SPF 20. This is supposedly thicker than the regular Hope In A Jar.
.25 ounce Smashbox Photo Finish Primer SPF 15 (UVA/UVB).
.01 ounce size of Bare Minerals Well-Rested SPF 30. This is a brightening eyeshadow base.
.25 ounce size of Ole Hendricksen Herbal Day Cream SPF 15. This is one of the two products to come in a jar (the other being the eyeshadow base). It also is natural and good for more combination skin, like mine-although I do hate jars due to my long nails, but aesthetically prefer them.
.23 ounce size of DDF Protect and Correct UV Moisturizer SPF 15. This is more for drier skin, and it helps to impart radiance upon the skin.
.14 ounce size of Murad’s Essential-C Eye Cream SPF 15. Just from reading the description, I want this-it’s brightening and firming, and right now I need those both. I’m a huge fan of vitamin C-based skincare and this may be a future lemming, perhaps?
.25 ounce size of Peter Thomas Roth’s Max Sheer All-Day Defense Lotion. This seems to sound decent for oilier skin, as it has the word “sheer” in the title.
.33 ounce size of Cosmedicine’s Medi-Matte Oil Control Lotion SPF 20. Just hearing matte makes me very happy, as I do have combination skin (mostly normal but can get acne easily). It has pomegranate extract which I did not know until now is a good astringent for oily skin! As if I needed another reason to love pomegranates!
.5 ounce size of Jack Black Double-Duty Face Moisturizer SPF 20. This is one for the guys, as it’s important to get your skincare needs in a simple product, and since guys aren’t crazy about skincare like us girls multi-use products are very much necessary. If only I can get my brother to use some of this, I’d be set.
1 ounce size of Anthony Logistics Facial Moisturizer SPF 15. I do know about some AL products, because they were sold on the BBW website. According to the Sephora website, this is a do-all-smooths lines, brightens skin, and protects.
.08 ounce size of Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55. This is the highest SPF of the bunch, and it has xylitol, a retexturing ingredient, and it supposedly won’t leave a white residue on your face (as many high-SPF sunscreens can.
.34 ounce size of Korres Watermelon Sunscreen Face Cream. The nice thing about Korres is that they use a lot of natural ingredients, which I always love. This is thicker, but it seems like it may actually work for oilier/combination skin like mine. Of course, that is the whole point of the set-try things out.
The best part of this? 100% of the net profits will go to the Skin Cancer Foundation-so you not only are protecting yourself, you are helping to protect others as well-and you can’t say no to that! Be sure to act fast though, as this probably will sell out.
