New ULTA Ad (19 April-10 May)

16 April, 2009

This is the big Mum’s Day ad, so it is incredibly thick-and we start out with a GWP: With any purchase of $30 or more in fragrance, you get a tote bag free! There’s a tall straw tote with ring handle in either brown or green, and a wide bucket tote in a white or bronze-a $40 value. Inside the front cover, there’s fragrances. There is the new Viva La Juicy set which has a 3.4 EDP and a 6.7 lotion, or the regular Juicy Couture whch is a 3.4 EDP and body sorbet and shower gel in 4.2 sizes-for $90 each. Ed Hardy has a good bargain set that is $75 for a 3.4 EDP, 3 ounce shower gel and shimmer lotion, and a .25 ounce EDP-perfect for travel or collecting. There are also some “new” fragrances, including Escada Ocean Lounge-which is absolutely amazing.

Next you start to get into the giftsets. Estee Lauder has two advertised-a Beautiful one for $68 (with 2.5 ounce sizes of EDP, lotion, and shower gel) and Pleasures for $72 (same as the Beautiful except the EDP is 3.4 ounces). DKNY has a good Be Delicious one with the 1.7 EDP and three lipglosses for $58. A Donna Karan Cashmere Mist one is $58 for a 1.7 EDT and a 3.4 lotion. Clinique has a Happy giftset, with a 1.7 perfume, a 2.5 body cream, and a rollerball/lipgloss duo, in a cosmetics bag.

There’s another Ed Hardy set-same as the first, except with the new Love & Luck fragrance, and at the $75 price point as well. Fancy (the Jessica Simpson perfume) has a $62 set with a 3.4 EDP, a rollerball, and a 4 ounce lotion. Vera Wang Princess has a $78 set with a 3.4 EDP, a 5 ounce lotion, and then a mini parfum (a collector item) Yet another Be Delicious giftset-this one is $55 and has the 1.7 EDP, but instead of glosses you get a 3.4 lotion. Euphoria has a $45 set with a 1 ounce EDP and a rollerball. J’Adore has a $76 set with a 1.7 EDP, 2.5 ounce lotion and shower gel, and then a pouch. The new Daisy set is $85, and you get a 3.4 EDP, a 5 ounce shower scrub, and a gel perfume stick. This one seems interesting… Red Door has a $49.50 set with a 1.7 EDT, 3.3 lotion and shower wash, and then a .33 mini perfume spray.

There is a really cool limited-edition item-it’s a Ralph Lauren Romance EDP purse spray in a .5 ounce size for $22.

Now it’s a big nail polish B2G1 free. The brands that have their stuff on that deal are Piggy Polish, OPI, Essie, Borghese, Revlon, Maybelline, Sally Hansen, Orly, China Glaze, and more. Select makeup brushes are B1G1 50% off, including ULTA brand, ULTA Pro, Eco Tools, and Studio Gear.

Moving into low-end makeup, Maybelline, Revlon, Cover Girl, Neutrogena, and Palladio are all on B2G1 free. L’Oreal eye, lip, HiP, and then ULTA cosmetics and ULTA minerals are all B1G1 free. When you spend $10 in Max Factor you get a free eye trio. There’s a new Sally Hansen natural line and if you buy a foundation or primer in it, you get a free concealer, blush, or powder free. Finally, Almay has a free eye makeup remover with a $10 purchase.

In the bodycare department, all ULTA bath is 3/$15, and there’s a $7 coffret that has hand creams in 4 fragrances-Berry Crush, Simply Clean, Lavender Fields, and Aqua Dream. You can get a set for $15 that has the shower gel, lotion, and hand cream in either Simply Clean or Coconut Lime-packaged conveniently in a tote. Also, all Smoothies, Swirl Creams, and AntiBac (in Simply Clean, Berry Crush, Lavender Fields, and Citrus Splash) are B1G1 free.

Next few pages don’t have a lot of interesting stuff, except all lighted mirrors are 20% off, and Ahava has a travel-size pack you get free when you spend $25 or more-and there’s a new $22 Frequent Flyer gift set. However, all Tweezerman is 10% off, and Caboodles cases are 25% off. There’s an at-home nail art set that is $40, and a set that is $20 and has 4 liquid eyeliners and a mascara. If she likes ULTA Minerals, there’s a $25 set with 2 shadows, a finishing powder, liner, and then two brushes.

Finally moving into prestige, there’s the new Too Faced “Every Girl Loves Chocolate and Pearls”. The Girls Dig Pearls glosses can be compared to Dazzleglasses, however these have real crushed pearl and Vitamin E, so you’re going to get more of an iridescence as opposed to the Dazzleglass. The Chocolate part of that is a matte bronzer with real cocoa powder. There’s some new Bare Minerals stuff too-$30 lip trios (liner, lipstick, gloss) that are 100% natural, and the Free To Be colour kits with 2 eyeshadows, a liner shadow, a blush, a lipgloss, and a clutch, all for $39.50. There’s the Elegant, a kisslock-closure clutch, the Classic, with a faux snakeskin, and Adventurous, with a teal patent. In Pur Minerals, if you buy the new Pur Rocks, you get a free lipgloss-a $15 value. Pop Beauty has a new Goddess clutch for $32, which is gorgeous on its own-and you can remove the palettes to actually use it as a clutch if you want to. Bourjois has all their minis 2/$10, which is a great way to get a little mascara to hang on your cell phone.

The new ULTA beauty blockbuster has 36 shadows, 9 lip colours, 8 glossers, a bronzer, 4 blushes, 2 full-size lip sticks, 2 mini glosses, 2 dual-ended eye/lip pencils, and applicators galore which I wouldn’t touch with a 10-foot pole. When you are done, you can use it as a jewelry box. This is only $20, so it’s great for a younger girl or a teenager who doesn’t have a ton of makeup.

Napoleon Perdis has brand new Lash Patrol mascara, which is coloured-and since I love NP I am getting the green and the purple (hopefully). Smashbox has two new things-a High Definition Concealer ($18 each, in a tube) and a waterproof shadow/liner duo ($25 each)-and when you make any Smashbox purchase you get a free mini lipgloss. Stila has their summer colour collection out, with obvious Indian inspirations, and it definitely looks appealing to me.

In skincare and hair tools there aren’t any really new sales or products, although you get a Murad sampler with a purchase. TIGI’s wave iron is $20, and there’s the Zoe hair products with an ULTA-exclusive cherry-print dryer or flat iron. There are a lot of haircare items on sale, and because of Mum’s day, a lot of sets. Big Sexy Hair has a free wallet with a duo purchase, and TIGI has a lot of deals on various items.

Finally, Artec’s Kiwi line is $4 each, limit four.

There is one last deal though-for every $20 you spend, you get $5 in bonus bucks-that you can redeem on a $20 purchase from the 11th to the 16th.
